Back to School...A Season of its Own

The time is quickly approaching...wait, approaching, even when modified with "quickly" doesn't do TIME justice. Approach is something done more hesitantly, kinda like how I begin dinner preparations. It's a slow, contemplative process. Will any of my three children actually show up for dinner? And if so, how quickly can I get it on the table? Do I have anything thawed?, Will they like the meal I just poured my heart and soul into and more importantly, will they eat it? Frankly, I can't always remember who likes what and how they want it cooked...one of my many traits that my youngest son (just turned 16) takes as a personal insult. Why can't I remember that he likes chocolate ice cream, my oldest likes vanilla with chocolate syrup and my middle likes strawberry. How hard is it? By approaching cooking in this manner, it takes me about a nanosecond, thanks to speed dial, to call for take out and then text my husband for pick up and delivery...I mean, he's gotta come right by there anyway. No, Time is not approaching at all, it is exploding through my defenses like Deion Sanders with a football. And even if I can catch up enough to make the tackle, there's no way I can stop him, so I will just hold on for dear life until we cross the goal line.

And that brings me to the Number One (ONLY) Reason I'm glad for the Back to School Season....Football. I love it! I love all of it! Watching my boys play PeeWee Football was some of the best times of my life. I love high school football, college football, NFL football. But that is a post for another day, it's time for me to start thinking about dinner. Now, what did I do with my phone?

Here's a great Martini recipe...perfect for celebrating back to school as well as back to the gridiron.

The Caramel Appletini is a delicious cocktail with all of the flavors of the fall season and pairs nicely with caramel apples.
